Cybils 2013: Looking for Volunteer Judges

Do you blog about children’s books on a regular basis? The Cybils are back and the call for judges is going on until August 31, 2013. cybils-2013-logo

What are Cybils? The acronym stands for children’s and young adult bloggers literary awards. Bloggers who specialize in children’s and young adult books have developed the Cybils awards to highlight some of the best books published in the previous year.

Volunteer judges are needed for several different genre of children’s books. There are two rounds of judging, so be sure to read the judging details to decide which panels you would like to apply for. There has been a change in the nonfiction category, with picture books having been combined with middle-grade and young adult having its own category.

Being a Cybils judge is a wonderful opportunity to meet others interested in children’s books and to read some of the top books in the industry. Hope to see you there.

Cybils Nominations are Open for 2012

In case you are interested in nominating a book for Cybils, the Children’s and Young Adult Bloggers’ Literary Awards, it is time. Go to the Nominate Here page and it will walk you through the steps. Nominations are open through October 15, 2012. You don’t have to be a member, or even have a blog, to participate.

Note:  if you are like me, you may find someone else has already nominated the book you chose. The form will return a message letting you know.

Good luck!

By the way, I am pleased to announce I am a round II judge in the Nonfiction Picture Book category this year. 🙂

Cybils Nominations

October is such a busy month.
cybils2010

Be sure to take time, however, to nominate your favorite children’s and young adult books for Cybil Awards. Nominations are open until  October 15th at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern time). Simply go to the Cybils website, scroll down to the appropriate genre of the book you want to nominate and then follow the simple instructions. Make sure your book was published within the last year, between the dates listed in the rules. (I hope my nomination is going to be considered because it is being released near the October 15, 2010 deadline.)

Not interested in nominating a book? The Cybils website is an absolutely fabulous place to find exciting new books for your age group and interests. The nominated books are the cream of the children’s book world, and you will find some treasures. The good news for busy folks is that the book lists will be finalized at the end of the nomination period and can be viewed at any time in the upcoming months.
